Thousand Shadows Vol. 2 is the second part of the second album by You Said Strange. A second chapter was needed to highlight the many shadows that wither everywhere and always. The shadows that linger on the borders, hiding the violence of the struggles for them. The shadows that time casts on relationships and their persistence, because shadows move. A modern version of Plato's cave would thus be that of toxic relationships, antidepressants, and the acceptance of the regression of freedoms and/or the vision of a dying world. You Said Strange take these thoughts and dissect them to uncover the spark that allows us to proclaim that yes, existence is worth it. Blending shoegaze, noise, and psychedelic rock, the band absorbs its era to conjure a music where melancholy, love, and the search for fulfillment confront each other. Both on stage and on record, the phrase is a cliché but undeniable when talking about You Said Strange: it is a call to travel and transcend oneself. One must not forget one thing: the shadow exists because the light exists. Hailing from Giverny, the Norman quartet recorded their first album Salvation Prayer in Portland, with Peter G. Holmstrom (The Dandy Warhols) at the helm. In 2019, the band performed live in Seattle for KEXP radio following the enthusiasm of its famous host Kevin Cole for this first album. At the end of 2021, Thousand Shadows Vol. 1 was released: the first part of a powerful, reverberated, melodic second album drawing its inspiration and production from the encounters between Normandy, New York, and Oregon.
