VIRTUOSO AND INSPIRED CLARINETIST. A SPIRITUAL AND CONTEMPLATIVE SUITE, INFUSED WITH JAZZ, CLASSICAL AND ORIENTAL MUSIC. From revisited traditional klezmer to electronic music, via rock, Americana, classical and contemporary music, not to mention completely unclassifiable forms, this insatiable jack-of-all-trades in search of the absolute never loses sight of his vision of music, his approach to the human soul, a need for universality and spirituality that has led him in recent years to draw inspiration from sacred music to develop his musical language. A spiritual and contemplative suite, infused with jazz, classical and oriental music. When I started imagining this new album, everything around me had changed. Above all, thanks to Komos's offer, I found myself in the studio for the first time for several days, ready to truly "build and create" an album. Usually, my albums come more or less from the stage and are nourished by a personal rage that I expel by playing. This time, the album is guided by another energy: childlike, melancholic, evanescent, elegiac. A celebration of sweetness and beauty. WHERE IT IS SAID THAT THERE IS ALWAYS A BEFORE AND AN AFTER "Usually there is no precise rule. My albums are instinctive: everything starts from a surge and, in the end, I understand what they evoke and why I imagined them that way. At the beginning, I wanted to finally release an album that had been hidden inside me for a long time: meditation is important in my life and I wanted to translate that state into music, hence the idea of an album entitled Le Rythme du silence (The Rhythm of Silence). The title speaks for itself. And then... And then we were expecting our first child, and then I was 40, and then the lockdown..." WHERE IT IS SAID THAT SILENCE WILL WAIT A LITTLE LONGER: "Another desire was born. When I started imagining this new album, everything around me had changed. Above all, thanks to Komos's offer, I found myself in the studio for the first time for several days, ready to truly 'build and create' an album. Usually, my albums come more or less from the stage and are nourished by a personal rage that I expel by playing. This time, the album is guided by another energy: childlike, melancholic, evanescent, elegiac. A celebration of sweetness and beauty." WHERE IT IS SAID THAT A NOTE IS A STONE TO THE EDIFICE: "When I record, there is always a struggle within me between the band leader, the composer and the performer, which creates excitement but, sometimes, also stress. This time, I was able to take on each role in turn. I would imagine the piece, build it with Léo Jassef who would sit at the piano or percussion to record it, and finally, and only then, I would pick up my clarinet to play on the music that already existed. The different layers were built in this way. And then came the mixing with Félix where it was still possible to invent, to compose. I spent nine days in the studio and used all that time, which is very rare to have, to really work on each piece. I can say that this is my first composer's album. Like a celebration." "Clarinetist Yom has tirelessly and brilliantly explored an impressive range of musical aesthetics."
