It's Alright (I See Rainbows)

Description

Secretly Canadian continues the reissue of Yoko Ono's works with an expanded version of her iconic 1982 album, It’s Alright (I See Rainbows). Blending the influence of 1960s female vocal groups with 1980s synthesizer experimentation, this album is described by Rolling Stone as bold, lush, and compelling avant-garde. Yoko Ono stated in 1992 that she finally felt in tune with the world during its creation. The work oscillates between the persistent grief of a widow and the vital drive necessary for an artist and mother to continue her mission. Dark tracks give way to the pop optimism of "Let the Tears Dry" and the title track. In 1983, Ono described this album as a diary sharing universal emotions. She explained that she overcame a period of deep sadness thanks to her son Sean Lennon, who encouraged her to wake up and dream of love. In 2025, Sean Lennon recalled his mother's ability to transform negative energy into productive creativity without ever giving up, a perseverance that ultimately paid off with the public.
