Description

As a little girl, Yelli Yelli’s mother used to play her traditional Kabyle tunes. Though the little girl did not understand the lyrics, the songs carried her away, mysterious, unfolding beneath the melodies their rhythms and, in those rhythms, the emotion of a people of souls and bodies. The years passed; the child became a teenager, the teenager an adult, the adult the Folk singer, raw and sensitive, generous and mischievous, whom we know under the name Milkymee. Upon meeting Piers Faccini, the secret treasure of the tunes buried since childhood suddenly rose back to the surface with a warm and wild voice, Kabyle, folk. Yelli Yelli became once again the one her grandfather called, in Kabyle, “the little girl”: Yelli Yelli.
