Hysteresis

Description

YAR is a musical collective formed by members of the DIY underground scene in the Parisian suburbs. YAR identifies with the NO WAVE movement for its political commitment, expressionism, and sonic freedom, and with the POST PUNK movement for its sonic textures, raw energy, and incisive rhythms. In short, it's music with a unique twist that they call "STRANGE WAVE". Brought together on a Monday to play their first concert the following Thursday, YAR was born out of urgency in a Montreuil 93 basement, comprising five individuals with diverse musical backgrounds (Electric Retro Spectrum, Fatals, Aqua Nebula Oscillator, Eva Brain, S'ennuyer Mieux, Tits, Les Secrétaires Volantes, Osage). Shedding their garage-psych jammer pasts, the five members of YAR forge their path with short tracks, true distillations of their current influences: post-punk, 90s alternative rock, noise, psychedelia, and trance synths. It was in one day (excluding keyboards) and in complete autonomy that YAR recorded their first album, *Hysteresis*, in late spring 2022 in their rehearsal space, HEAT Studio in Montreuil 93. Home-mixed with passion by Pierre, the mastering was expertly handled by Mickaël Rangeard (Iggy Pop, Cock Robin, Les Wampas, Tschegue). *Hysteresis* brings together 9 tracks that exude the urgency and spontaneity characteristic of the band's approach, borrowing its name from the concept applied to sociology by Pierre Bourdieu.
