American-Korean producer, DJ, singer and artist Yaeji has unveiled details of 'With A Hammer', her debut album to be released on XL Recordings. Since 2017 and the release of her singles 'Raingurl' and 'Drink I'm Sippin On', Yaeji has gradually established herself as a key figure in electronic music, uniquely and introspectively blending avant-garde R&B and house music. Across the 13 tracks that make up her new album, Yaeji explores shifting sonic forms, ranging from dance music, Korean indie rock, electronica, and 1990s and 2000s pop. She invokes the figure of a hammer, 'Hammer Lee', an allegory for her repressed anger at rigid, sometimes self-inflicted, societal rules and expectations, and a tool for liberation and transformation.
