'No Horizon', Wye Oak's new EP, is the band's latest project, born out of an "evolve or die" philosophy. For multi-instrumentalists Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack, there’s nothing to fear from the unknown, nothing is fixed, and nothing clearly defines what Wye Oak is. At a transitional moment for the band, it's not a question of whether or not they will experiment with the format of their musical output; it's a question of how. Wasner and Stack have been making music together as Wye Oak for over a decade, resulting in five critically acclaimed albums. Originally from Baltimore and now based in Durham, the two spent the period from 2012-2019 writing music while living in different parts of the country. The five songs that form 'No Horizon' are the first Stack and Wasner have written while both living in Durham. The EP was originally composed over a very short period in late 2018 and early 2019, then performed at Merkin Hall in New York as part of the Ecstatic Music Festival in collaboration with the Brooklyn Youth Chorus. The result is beautiful and strange: recognizably Wye Oak, yet unlike any other studio work by the band. Pink vinyl.
