"Learning To Swim On Empty" is the mini LP by Wu-Lu. It is his first record since "LOGGERHEAD," released in 2022. Released digitally in May 2024, the vinyl edition includes two unreleased tracks, "Last Night With You (Instrumental)" and "Crow's Nest (Instrumental)." The singer and musician has delved deeper than ever into his most sincere and intimate songs while expanding his sonic palette. The album presents itself as a series of journal entries, inspired by childhood in Brixton, death and mourning, rebirth, and the feeling of swimming or sinking that one experiences when thrown into the deep end. The artwork is by Bráulio Amado. Coming from the Touching Bass collective, Miles Romans-Hopcraft, aka Wu-Lu, is an oddity in the South London music scene. Influenced by multiple genres, the producer and multi-instrumentalist has experimented with everything from hip-hop to lo-fi noise, as well as rock with more psychedelic accents. Ultimately, it is a bit of all this that can be found in his current creations, a kind of cross-genre punk that is reminiscent of Yves Tumor's abrasive soul.
