"World Destroyers' Pleasure Club is a musical order formed during the great plague of the 20s in Los Angeles through a constellation of fortuitous alignments. Amid the isolation that connected all the peoples of the world, in this unsettling calm, a vision of community, ecstasy, and revelry was achieved. The vision came to life on its own when the group came together and continues to propel unity towards its realization. When asked to describe their strange and mutant music, some fans and even members struggled to do so. For this reason, they chose the term Polywave as a designated genre, which they see as including other forms of expression beyond music, a tendency to be hyper-eclectic and bearing the distinctive mark of a commitment to ongoing and intentional self-transformation. WDPC has performed at venues such as Permanent Records Roadhouse, Zebulon, Lodge Room, and more, both headlining and opening for artists like The Intelligence, The Black Lips, and The Nude Party. Dubbed The Mysterious Party Band, DJ Al Lover (Fuzz Club Records) told them they sounded like a "Gospel Devo," and they have been compared to Talking Heads, The Fall, Butthole Surfers, and Peter Gabriel. As influences, they cite a diverse range of artists including Hailu Mergia, Psychic TV, Scott Walker, Fela Kuti, and Red Crayola, but these influences do not necessarily reveal themselves in sound as much as in the spirit in which they were conceived. Artist Neight Trion, the main songwriter, spends as much time on the lyrics as on the composition of the music, aiming for both to be strong enough to stand on their own. The members include a rotating and evolving collection of instrumentalists and collaborative mimetic entities, but the core members are Neight Trion, vocals/keys (The Black Angels, The Shine Brothers), Rocky, bass guitar (Death Valley Girls), Jay Eraser, guitar (Grooms, Roya), Oh-Ra, drums (?), and Malware, synth (Dead Meadow). Hailing from all over the United States and Europe, their operations are based in the Los Angeles area. Armed with their self-titled debut album released by Blow Your Mind Records based in Santiago, Chile, they will come to a city near you and pave the way for the next Polywave. This is just the beginning, the first steps of the metamorphosis. They invite you to join them in their quest for the ecstatic community experience.
