WOMEN, a Canadian quartet, is the indie revelation of this fall 2008. Sometimes light and airy, other times hectic and laden with a dull and cold tension, this eponymous album evokes VELVET UNDERGROUND, SWELL MAPS and THIS HEAT, without, however, having any predecessors to honor. Wrapped in vibrato and guitars, WOMEN sweeps through the history of pop since the 50s with noise and a claustrophobic atmosphere.
