WOMEN, a Canadian quartet, is the indie revelation of this 2008 season. Sometimes light and airy, other times hectic and charged with a dull, cold tension, this self-titled album invokes VELVET UNDERGROUND, SWELL MAPS and THIS HEAT, without having any predecessors to pay tribute to. Wrapped in vibrato and guitars, WOMEN sweeps through the history of pop since the 50s with a dose of noise and a claustrophobic atmosphere.
