Fairy Rust

Before the release of a new album by Wombo in August 2025, we are restocking "Fairy Rust," the second album in a new color. Wombo contemplates the in-between spaces, a meeting of the physicality of the earth and the fluidity of imagination, with a strange effect. Across twelve tracks, sharp guitar work, distorted freakouts, and downtempo reveries weave a tapestry of sounds that are both intoxicating and effortless. One minute, it's deadpan post-punk energy, and the next minute, Stereolab at the top of a mountain. The music functions as their own localized language that feels uniquely out of body. Crafted over the past two years, the record is imbued with its own time-warping escapism and influenced by fairy tales like those of the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen, blending surreal situations with the mundane. Flirting with prog, pop, and effervescent post-punk, Wombo's avant-garde approach sets them apart as one of the most exciting emerging bands of the moment.
