Here, Wolfgang continues in his approach, his unique talents as a composer providing his companions with the material and support for particularly intense exchanges. The guitarist's writing as well as his approach to jazz have always been strongly influenced by folk music as well as the world of classical – but these two aspects of his universe are particularly sensitive throughout this new album. The floating percussive impulses of Brian Blade's drums and the subtle counterpoints of Scott Colley's double bass create adventurous harmonic landscapes filled with complex polyrhythms and offer Wolfgang Muthspiel's fluid style on both acoustic and electric guitar an interactive space to flourish.
