Piano Concertos numéros 12 & 17

Description

The Austrian pianist Alfred Brendel was one of the most important representatives of the German-Austrian classical and Romantic traditions, whose intellectual rigor and poetic spirit enriched audiences for more than 60 years. The main focus of his concert and studio career was centered on the interpretation of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann and Brahms. As one of the founders of the German-Austrian classical tradition, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s contribution to the history of music speaks for itself. More particularly, one of his greatest compositional achievements is the Piano Concerto. By improvising and experimenting at the keyboard, he brilliantly blended the instrumental style and the operatic style. This interaction between instrumental and operatic elements can be heard especially in the final movement of Piano Concerto No. 17, which is paired here with his Piano Concerto No. 12.
