Mozart à quatre mains

Description

For nearly 80 years, the pianoforte and the harpsichord coexisted throughout the 18th century, to the point that several makers attempted to combine the two instruments into one! The most spectacular of these hybrid keyboards is undoubtedly the extravagant Vis-à-vis, built in 1777 by Johann Andreas Stein: it features three keyboards (harpsichord stops/pianoforte stop) at one end. Today, only two examples of this instrument, with extraordinarily varied timbral and dynamic capabilities, remain in the world, allowing Andreas Staier and Christine Schornsheim, as a duo, to offer us a renewed vision of Mozart's works for piano four hands.
