The iconic band from Montreal’s indie rock scene unveils Thin Mind, a dystopia that takes you into a post-apocalyptic world. Wolf Parade — Dan Boeckner, Spencer Krug and Arlen Thompson — presents Thin Mind in trio format, the band’s fifth album on Sub Pop. Comprising 10 tracks, the album was recorded by John Goodmanson at Risque Disque on Vancouver Island, mixed by Goodmanson at Bogroll Studios in Seattle, and mastered by Noah Mintz at Lacquer Channel Mastering in Toronto. Science fiction, post-apocalyptic and dystopian narratives intertwine throughout the album. These themes emerged when Boeckner was working at Risque Disque, which he jokingly describes as a Dutchman’s failed utopia; a problematic structure with a post-apocalyptic feel: the workshop is housed in a stone barn built by hand by a Dutchman in the middle of the woods, using local materials and based on his memory of a building he liked that he had lived in in the Netherlands. On Thin Mind, Wolf Parade worked as a trio as it did on the previous albums Apologies to the Queen Mary and At Mount Zoomer, dividing songwriting equally between singers Dan Boeckner and Spencer Krug. The album includes the singles "Forest Green", "Julia, Take Your Man Home" and "Against the Day", the latter offering a rare co-vocal performance by Boeckner and Krug.
