Description

Mother Earth is the first album by the Dutch metal band Within Temptation. Sharon den Adel being the only singer, the band’s direction moved from the earlier EPs to a more symphonic style. The title track opens with a beautiful orchestral melody before bringing in powerful percussion and guitar riffs. "Ice Queen" reached number one in the Netherlands and Belgium. With its prominent string arrangement and lyrical content, it was a beautiful early-2000s song. Overall Mother Earth is an emotional and thoughtful collection of musical ideas replaced by impressive vocal expressions. The Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation was founded in 1996 by singer Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt. After their early recordings in doom metal, they developed their music into a more accessible symphonic style, thus becoming known to the general public.
