Born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1993, Winston Hightower is a prolific home studio recording artist with an expansive discography that crawls through space and genre. A pillar of the Midwest punk/DIY scene, his first work under his eponymous name was a self-released cassette in 2015. His music defies easy categorization, instead weaving through a landscape of synths that effortlessly blend pop, rock, rap, and jazz. In doing so, Hightower continues to build a coherent and ever-evolving experience by pushing the boundaries of underground guitar music, all with the spirit and charm that characterize him. This work is almost entirely written and recorded alone in his bedroom. His influences include modern "lo-fi" progenitors such as Guided by Voices and Vivian Girls. K records is excited to release his very first album, Winston Hytwr, which features songs from his previous, hard-to-find releases.
