Continuing its groundbreaking work that began in 2014, Gonzaï Records is releasing on vinyl for the first time the album "Tears behind the stars" by Paul Winslow, originally released digitally in December 2015, and offered here in a remastered simple vinyl version. Paul Winslow's references? Gary Usher, Harry Nilsson, Todd Rundgren, and Brian Eno. Just to name a few. After honing his skills in hip hop, film music, and other commissions, the Parisian jack-of-all-trades with a boundless imagination embarked last year on writing his grand pop work. A long-distance album entirely composed in the Montmartre home studio of this dandy multi-instrumentalist, revealing precise and romantic songwriting worthy of the golden age of the 60s, combined with the best sounds in the history of modern pop. After casting his album like a message in a bottle to Albert Potiron (Gonzaï, Technikart, Noisey), he decided to cross the Rubicon and eventually released it on Bandcamp in December 2015, by his own means. He sold over 300 copies (an achievement in these times). Acclaimed upon its digital release by curious listeners and purists for the timeless quality of its tracks, "Tears behind the stars" navigates between 60s melodies reminiscent of the Beach Boys or Kinks, and more electro-progressive or dreamy sounds from the 70s. More than a birth announcement, it is a multifaceted record and anything but a coincidence for this aficionado of pocket symphonies. A few months after a discreet release on the infernal internet, it became urgent to press this first album on 33 RPM vinyl, which, like its cover, has a promising future.
