Description

Sings Again is the fifth album by British electronic musician Will Samson. After starting the decade with two largely instrumental albums, Samson... sings again. The familiar collection of old tape recorders that characterizes much of his style returns (with a 1971 Sennheiser microphone for vocals), firmly anchoring Sings Again in an organic soundscape blending electronic and acoustic influences.Drawing inspiration from the early work of Björk, Four Tet, and Efterklang, the album was largely built from recordings and samplings of organic sounds such as twigs, stones, and brushes, used to create percussion. An empty glass bottle was transformed into an otherworldly organ on the raw opening track 0333AM, and his own voice became the melancholic synthetic sound of the stripped-down electro of Darabuka. Elsewhere, the hypnotic and moving Time Used To Feel Like and the grandiose album closer Julian's Rocks offer a raw and direct glimpse into his most vulnerable aspects: a long-established artist making a fresh start.
