The new album from one of the most important American bands of the last 20 years. Schmilco, which will be released on September 9, is the tenth studio album by WILCO. The album includes 12 new songs written by leader Jeff Tweedy, it is the third to be released on their own label, dBpm Records. It follows their surprise album from 2015, Star Wars. While the sextet has accustomed us to fuzz-glam guitars and dazzling, almost baroque arrangements, Schmilco, primarily acoustic, aspires more to vast spaces and chaos. As with any band of their magnitude, the members of Wilco are led to question their identity: how to face the discordance between what they are and how the public perceives them? how to maintain their innocence and seriousness when some see Wilco as more than just a group of six musicians? This is somewhat what Schmilco conveys. Recorded at the band's studio in Chicago, this new album is produced by Jeff Tweedy and Tom Schick. WILCO consists of Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Nels Cline, Glenn Kotche, Patrick Sansone, and Mikael Jorgensen.
