Wilco's thirteenth studio album, titled "Cousin", was recorded at the band's legendary Chicago studio - The Loft - over a period of two years. The ten new tracks are written by Jeff Tweedy, the band's frontman, and feature musical performances from the long-standing lineup of Nels Cline, Mikael Jorgensen, Glenn Kotche, John Stirratt, Pat Sansone and, of course, Tweedy on lead vocals.After a brief detour into their country roots with last year's double album Cruel Country, Cousin sees Wilco return to the more familiar territory of progressive and experimental rock. Tweedy's singular voice as a songwriter is fully highlighted, with lyrics that tackle a variety of subjects - from the iconoclastic to the introspective.The arrival of Welsh singer-songwriter Cate Le Bon as producer added a unique and new element to the recording process. This is the first time in over ten years that an outsider has actively participated in a Wilco recording session. Cate Le Bon brought her unique musical perspective to the band's signature sound and offered them a new, stimulating challenge to push their musical boundaries.
