Pink Room is the new EP from Wet, the New York trio led by the magnetic Kelly Zutrau, released as part of Secretly Canadian’s Friends Of series. Pink Room follows the band’s third album, Letter Blue, Wet's most collaborative project, featuring Chaz Bear of Toro y Moi for co-writing and co-production, as well as Buddy Ross, Frank Ocean's essential keyboardist. Marty Sulkow, the band's original guitarist who left in 2017, even rejoined the group, alongside agile producer Joe Valle. Together, they helped create Wet's most playful songs to date. The band released their eponymous debut EP in 2014 on the Neon Gold label, before signing with Columbia Records for two acclaimed albums, Don't You (2016) and Still Run (2018). They have toured with The 1975, Florence + the Machine, and Toro y Moi, the latter of whom also featured the band on his album Outer Peace in 2019. Kelly Zutrau has always been interested in the multiplicity and simultaneity of feelings. A song can certainly be joyful, but it can also be sad, and even guilty. All these feelings can coexist. This perspective extends beyond music, touching on something more existential. In music and media, everything is often black or white, but life is much more porous than that. Naturally, this situation is far less easy to define or explain. Pressed on transparent pink vinyl, limited to 1000 copies worldwide.
