Enregistré en direct au Detroit Institute of Arts le 20 juillet 2025, A Tribute to Pharoah Sanders immortalizes the Detroit saxophonist-clarinetist Wendell Harrison, and his ensemble TRIBE in a transcendent performance paying tribute to his longtime friend and jazz icon. This concert, presented as part of the Detroit Concert of Colors festival and later broadcast on PBS, sees Harrison reviving the spirit of Sanders through deep tenor chants, hypnotic rhythms, and Afro-spiritual improvisations. Accompanied by an exceptional group of musicians, including Sky Covington, Pamela Wise, Michael Abbo, Sam Melkonian, Kevin Dalton Jones, Allen Denard, Edward Gooche, Stephen Grady, Roberto Warren, and special guests, Harrison offers us an exploration of sounds and soul.
