Released in 2018 and followed by a relentless tour, their self-titled album reached number 7 on the New Zealand charts. On its release week, the title was at number one on Rough Trade's Top 20 new releases. Their success earned them a nomination for Best Alternative Artist at the 2018 New Zealand Music Awards. As with their first album, the writing process for Clot spanned a year. Some songs were written on the road, but most of the album was developed throughout 2019. The demos were refined before sound engineer James Goldsmith (Aldous Harding, Mermaidens) stepped in. However, the band spent more time finding new sounds. The idea was to keep the live approach, but with a heavier result. To achieve this, they called on the mixing genius of Ben Greenberg (Uniform, Destruction Unit, The Men).
