Description

The biblical city of Babel and its infamous tower have received bad press over the centuries. Imagined as a threatening structure built by people who all spoke the same language, Almighty God, by creating languages, decided to deceive humans in order to disperse them - the word Babel is derived from the Hebrew word balal [to confuse]. Yet, if we consider the tower as a prototype radio transmitter, as Watcha Clan does in their latest album, the transmission of sound from a world singing and dancing together in unison is implacably logical. Watcha Clan has always shown visionary spiritual eclecticism in its sounds, drawing inspiration as much from urban electronic movements (drum n bass, hip-hop) as from the folklores of North Africa, Israel, Turkey, and the Balkans, all sublimated by Sista K's magical voice.
