Description

With their first two albums, The Fool in 2010 and Warpaint in 2013, the American quartet Warpaint captivated all indie rock fans with a clever blend of dark rock, poignant new wave, and haunting melodies. After a busy 2015 filled with various solo projects, Emily Kokal, Theresa Wayman, Jenny Lee Lindberg, and Stella Mozgawa are back with Heads Up, a third album once again produced with Jacob Bercovici, with whom they had previously collaborated on their excellent debut EP, Exquisite Corpse. As shown by the more pop sounds of the single 'New Song', the sound of the Los Angeles musicians has evolved for their new influences towards a more pop sound, but also electro and funk, yet still dark and captivating. All carried by an elusive groove that permeates these 11 tracks for a thrilling album!
