With their first two albums The Fool in 2010 and Warpaint in 2013, the American quartet Warpaint captivated all indie rock fans with a skillful blend of dark, heartbreaking new-wave rock and catchy melodies. After a rich 2015 filled with various solo projects, Emily Kokal, Theresa Wayman, Jenny Lee Lindberg, and Stella Mozgawa are back with Heads Up, a third album once again produced with Jacob Bercovici, with whom they had already collaborated on their first and excellent EP Exquisite Corpse.
As shown by the more pop sounds of the single "New Song," the sound of the Los Angeles musicians has evolved towards a more pop sound but also electro and funk while still being dark and captivating. All of this is carried by an elusive groove that inhabits these 11 tracks for an exciting album!
