The central trio composed of Cory Hanson (guitar/vocals), Evan Burrows, and Lee Landley has now been joined by 2 new members: Robbie Cody (guitar) and Sofia Arreguin (keyboards/vocals), and the recording process has significantly evolved as a result. While Hanson and his overflowing inspiration were originally behind most of the tracks on their previous albums, Plum was recorded during a full collaboration among all members who experimented with ideas during very long improvisation sessions in the studio. More multi-chromatic than Golem (In The Red, 2015) or 1000 Days (Drag City, 2015), both in its melodies and instrumentation, Plum is undoubtedly Wand's most thoughtful and mature album, allowing them to present a more vulnerable and, in a sense, honest side.
