Recorded analog by Matt Talbott of Hum, the album revives the band's roots in raw, uncompromising blues punk. The opening track, "Dead End," takes a Lynchian turn as its agony leads into a waking nightmare. Despite a heavy and oppressive atmosphere, 'The Arsonist' is steeped in very real anxieties. "You Never Answered" is a deafening call to put down our phones and answer the call of the night. The album rebels against the traps of everyday life and endless wars, but even in its most chilling moments, WAILIN STORMS is driven by a need for connection. "Like the wind controls the sea," sings Storms on the progressively intense title track.
