On May 18, 1986, Vladimir Horowitz played in Berlin for the first time in over 50 years. The return of the famous pianist made the headlines of all local and national newspapers and television, and the concert, which began after several minutes of applause, was captured by the radio Sender Freies Berlin, now Radio Berlin Brandenburg. Excited by the reception, Horowitz decided to give a second concert six days later, also sold out.
This two-CD edition includes the entirety of the first concert, as legendary for its history as for the incomparable virtuosity of Vladimir Horowitz.
