Beethoven, Stravinsky - Violin Concertos

C'est avec un naturel confondant et une grâce infinie que Vilde Frang aborde le concerto pour violon de Beethoven, dans un dialogue vif et subtil avec l'Orchestre de Brême dirigé par Pekka Kuusisto, nous en livrant une version très habitée et personnelle. Elle déploie les mêmes qualités pour le moins connu et passionnant concerto de Stravinski dont elle n'hésite pas à relever certaines dissonnances et rythmes hérissés. Deux concertos presque aux antipodes, mais qui s'éclairent l'un l'autre sous l'archet magique de la jeune violoniste norvégienne. "The Beethoven concerto is a piece of overwhelming power," declares the violinist Vilde Frang. "It is in a way more than music - its dimension seems almost cosmic. The strength of this concerto surprises me, again and again." Frang juxtaposes the epic and lyrical work of Beethoven with the compact violin concerto of Stravinsky, which pays vibrant homage to the models of the 18th century. The conductor is Pekka Kuusisto, himself a bold violinist, in his role as the artistic best friend of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen. "It is the chamber music qualities of Beethoven's concerto that provided me with the key," says Frang. "The violin 'nourishes' and constantly plays around the orchestra... In his own way, Stravinsky also engages the soloist in a constant dialogue with the orchestra. With Pekka Kuusisto and the players from Bremen, I really feel in such a comfort zone... One has the feeling that there is everything to gain by coming together, by reuniting."
