French post-punk/electro krautrock trio Veik enlist Sonic Boom and Vanishing Twin to reimagine tracks from their 2021 debut album, 'Surrounding Structures'. Both remixes were pressed by Fuzz Club on a beautiful light blue 45rpm vinyl limited to 250 copies. On side A, Sonic Boom (aka Pete Kember of Spacemen 3 and Spectrum) takes album opener 'Difficult Machinery' and deconstructs it into an oscillating drone. On side B, "Honesty (I Don't Wanna Know)" was already a throbbing, discordant proto-punk track. On this remix, London psych-pop experimentalists Vanishing Twin transform it into an even more abrasive and unpredictable beast. Veik's album "Surrounding Structures", revisited through these remixes, is rooted in avant-garde krautrock and 70s no wave and draws inspiration from brutalist and modernist architecture.
