WINTER SESSIONS (vinyl)

Description

Valparaiso composed “Low Tides,” which would serve as the soundtrack for Christophe Cousin’s film “Deux temps, trois mouvements,” and which naturally imposes a free form of writing; the usual codes of song are set aside to make room for a form of expression whose framework is akin to that of a journey of the imagination — a strip of photographs, a Super 8 reel... With this first stone laid, the creative process continues and grows. From it comes an intense collaboration with Phoebe Killdeer. Already a writer on “We hear voices” within the Fitzcarraldo Sessions, the Australian singer, recently brought to prominence by the single “Fade Out Lines” co-written with Valparaiso, wrote several pieces, 4 of which are recorded on the 6 tracks that make up the vinyl. Recorded and mixed in Bristol by John Parish, the “winterer sessions” make up the first tableau of Valparaiso’s compositions, a musical opening that precedes the release of an album scheduled for January 2016.
