Description

When Univers Zéro recorded Crawling Wind in 1983, the Belgian group had already established a unique identity, where chamber music, progressive rock, and avant-garde converge in compositions of great intensity. This mini-album marks an evolution in their discography with the arrival of British singer Andy Kirk, whose voice appears for the first time on a recording by the group. The title track, inspired by a short story by Alfred Jarry, is accompanied by Influences, a long instrumental composition that develops the contrasts of dynamics and the arrangements for bassoon, violin, harmonium, percussion, and keyboards characteristic of Univers Zéro. Released at a time when the group sought to expand its language without giving up its identity, Crawling Wind holds a special place in their journey, introducing singing intermittently while maintaining the demanding writing and dark atmosphere that have earned them their reputation.
