Released a year after WAR, which closed a trilogy produced by Steve Lillywhite, the album had been produced by Brian Eno (assisted by Daniel Lanois), a visionary musician often cited as the inventor of ambient music, as well as the renowned producer of David Bowie (notably the Berlin Trilogy Low, Heroes and Lodger) and Talking Heads. Bono and The Edge announced on the BBC in August 2009 that they had just found several unreleased tracks recorded in 1983 and 1984. Some of these songs will complete this reissue of The Unforgettable Fire. There will notably be “Disappearing Act,” a track produced by Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois under the name “White Cities.” The new version was reworked in France by U2 and will feature prominently on the album reissue. The Edge said of this song: “25 years later, the sound is incredible, the drums, the bass, the guitar and the vocals, it’s really amazing.”
