With this album, Ty Segall, the king of Californian psychedelic garage rock, delivers his second self-titled effort, the first having been released in 2008. He's surrounded himself with a full band comprised of his usual collaborators like Mikal Cronin and Charles Moothart, as well as Emmett Kelly (Angel Olsen, Bonnie "Prince" Billy) and Ben Boye (Angel Olsen, Riley Walker). While we still find the energetic guitars and powerful vocals, Ty Segall also demonstrates his capacity for great sensitivity with tracks like the gentle 'Orange Color Queen'. Visceral and penetrating, this album likely contains his most impactful tracks since *Slaughterhouse* (2012), but also features high-caliber acoustic performances. A manipulator of reality with boundless imagination, Ty Segall becomes more introspective here, playing with the transparency of harmonies, rhythms, and emotions. This album could quickly establish itself as his best to date. For fans of: Thee Oh Sees, Parquet Courts, Bass Drum Of Death, Night Beats, etc.
