Vimala Pons and Tsirihaka Harrivel are two leading figures in contemporary circus. These multi-instrumentalist, jack-of-all-trades "geeks" have been performing their show GRANDE across France and Europe since 2016. In the beloved tradition of music hall, this unconventional piece celebrates love and is punctuated by hits crafted from small instruments that leave grand melodies resonating in the mind. After three years of performances, the desire arose for an artifact that would encapsulate this omnipresent stage music, which deeply moved audience members. With the support of Olivier Demeaux (Heimat, Cheveu, Accident du Travail), the three rascals went into the studio, reinterpreting the main themes of GRANDE—, performing, arranging, looping, in a word: tinkering with this UFO-like album. It sits at the intersection of film music and concept album. Psychedelic experimentation by White Noise, great Italian film scores by Morricone and Rota, and Japanese ones by Yokohama and Kawai are all invoked, intertwined with a very French underground sensibility, from Brigitte Fontaine to La Grande Triple Alliance Internationale de l’Est. A grand moment of heartfelt and thrilling music.
