Trupa Trupa and their psychedelic melancholy return, almost exactly a year after *Headache*, with their new album. We won't bring up the "sophomore album challenge" cliché for *Jolly New Songs*, as it is, after all, the Polish band's fourth full-length release. However, we are still anticipating it as if it were the case: they will need to both guide the listener through established or newly revealed references, and lose them in a singular and subtly unprecedented way of distilling them. To renew, but not too much... Everyone will find their own path through the labyrinths of *Jolly New Songs*, but we can already agree that TRUPA TRUPA asserts an identifiable signature, thanks to a sound consistent with what we knew of them, and that the quartet's range of influences expands coherently and invigoratingly, yet without being too predictable.
