In 2012, the Californian band released their second album, Sun Pavilion, on compact disc, while the label Requiem Pour Un Twister released a second 45-rpm single by the band on its sub-label Croque Macadam, which included the single "Bright Sky" and the unreleased "Darling." Almost ten years later, the album is finally available on vinyl. The band, then a duo composed of Glenn Brigman and Josh Menashe, recorded these collections of pop songs with sixties vibes from their student apartment in Bloomington using an old Tascam 8-track cassette recorder. Divided between surf-music and indie-pop with some exciting forays into drum machines, this second album still offers a satisfying experience despite the years that have passed: the impeccable songwriting, lo-fi production, and spontaneous performance have lost none of their charm. Triptides displays master craftsmanship here, unfolding a collection of underground hits including "Bright Sky," "English Rain," and "Sun/Shine"... This vinyl reissue is an opportunity to rediscover Triptides in their early prime, but Sun Pavilion is far from an unfinished youthful work; it is a accomplished record that remains a favorite among many fans of the band.
