Description

The trio of percussionists tackle international pop hits with interpretations by Camille, Camélia Jordana, Sandra Nkaké, Malik Djoudi, and Blick Bassy. Paul Changarnier, Nicolas Cousin, and Alexandre Esperet, all with classical backgrounds from the Lyon Conservatory, form Trio SR9. They have adapted works by Bach, Satie, Ravel, as well as the finest contemporary composers, for the marimba. In 2019, they decided to collaborate with the No Format! label on a project that would tackle pop music hits. They were willing to invent, rearrange, and tinker, yet everything felt natural. The Trio eventually found a unique instrumental formula designed to complement the voices of Camille, Blick Bassy, Malik Djoudi, Camelia Jordana, and Sandra Nkaké. With such excellent accompaniment, the three tightrope walkers of this pocket orchestra make their mallets dance on the marimba keys, and the sounds they coax from the wood vibrate in the stomach and burst into comets in the mind.
