Emerging in London in the late 1960s, Trees released only two albums before disbanding, but its influence on British folk rock has continued to grow over the decades. Released in 1971, On the Shore is now considered the pinnacle of their discography, thanks to the balance it strikes between British folk traditions, original compositions, and psychedelic flights. Led by the voice of Celia Humphris, with guitars from Barry Clarke and David Costa, the album notably revisits Polly on the Shore, Soldiers Three, and Streets of Derry, while developing a darker and more ambitious atmosphere than that of The Garden of Jane Delawney. This limited edition in white vinyl, pressed in 500 copies by Earth Recordings, celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of this acid folk classic while retaining the original mix and cover art by Hipgnosis.
