Trees Speak's new album, "Shadow Forms," is a blend of 1970s German electronic and "motorik" Krautrock instrumentals (think Harmonia, Can, Cluster, Popul Vuh, Neu!), haunting and powerful 1960s and 70s soundtracks (think Italian prog-rock horror films Goblin and John Carpenter, Morricone, and John Barry's existential spy films), as well as New York no wave electronic synth and DIY-ness analog guitar (think Suicide, anything from Soul Jazz's New York Noise series, or Eno's New York No Wave)! Trees Speak brings all these elements together on "Shadow Forms," which follows their critically acclaimed debut LP "Ohms," released less than six months ago. Trees Speak consists of Daniel Martin Diaz and Damian Diaz, from Tucson, Arizona. Their music often draws inspiration from the cosmic night magic of Arizona's natural desert landscapes. Trees Speak is attached to the idea that future technologies store information and data in trees and plants – using them as hard drives – and to the idea that trees communicate collectively.
