In 2015, the album Sprinter revealed Torres, the artistic alter ego of Mackenzie Scott, a young Nashville artist only 23 years old but already noticed alongside Okkervil River or as an opening act for Sharon Van Etten and Hamilton Leithauser. With her rock energy in the grunge lineage of the 90s, we let ourselves be captivated by this journey into the depths of the self. An opus that earned her recognition from the international press and opened the doors to the legendary label 4AD. Her third album Three Futures embraces ecstasy, desire, and pleasure rather than self-denial, and unfolds this idea through immersive musicality. At the forefront are mechanical sonorities: a lacerated electro-pop energy, harsh gothic and industrial textures, and persistent krautrock. Across ten tracks alternating between weightless ballads and songs with powerful guitar riffs carried by her enchanting voice, Torres asserts herself even more as an artist with a fascinating universe filled with a very particular sensuality and energy. Recorded between Stockport and Dorset, the American once again collaborated on this album with producer Rob Ellis, PJ Harvey's faithful collaborator already present on Sprinter, and David Tolomei (Beach House, Future Islands) on mixing.
