Mike Patton’s band returns after an 8-year absence and presents its fifth album. Tomahawk, the rock band consisting of Duane Denison (The Jesus Lizard/Unsemble), Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle/Fantômas), Mike Patton (Faith No More/Mr. Bungle, etc.) and John Stanier (Helmet/Battles), returns with its first full album in eight years, the highly anticipated Tonic Immobility. "Tonic Immobility could be something of an anthem to the way we are all feeling," says Denison. "It’s been a tough year, between the pandemic and everything else. A lot of people feel somewhat helpless and stuck, as if they’re in a state of suspended animation. For as much as the record should be a welcome diversion from the day-to-day, it should also be a soundtrack to the oppressive-ness of the times. We don’t typically write stuff that way, but for all intents and purposes, it’s an escape from the realities of the world. We’re not wallowing in negativity or politics. For me, rock has always been an alternative reality to everything else."
