Very appreciated as a former resident of the Salon des Amateurs in his hometown of Düsseldorf, Tolouse Low Trax/Detlef Weinrich has sculpted one of the most distinctive sounds in contemporary club music through his deeply unusual grooves and hypnotic arrangements over the past 15 years as a solo artist.
Fung Day is his first album with entirely new material since Leave me alone, which was released on Bureau B in 2022. Fung Day was written and recorded over a period of two years, slowly mutating and progressing from one state to another. Mixed, produced, and ultimately mastered in Paris, his new chosen home.
A few words from Yvan Smagghe about Fung Day: “He claimed to be in exile from Germany but was a lover of France like all of us; his MPC sampler was smoking, an Enigma machine, an ashtray full of ghosts. I had left Paris for the same reasons he had come. I could strangely identify. We had met before he left Düsseldorf, and I knew him through his work, his art with words (there were few) and his piercing blue eyes.”
