Formed in the leafy Surrey district in the late 80s, Threshold truly came into its own during the following decade and quickly established itself as the leading standard-bearer for progressive metal in the UK. Starting with the debut of Wounded Land in 1993, the creative core of guitarist Karl Groom and keyboard maestro Richard West built a unique variety of heavy progressive music, combining incisive melodies, thought-provoking lyrics and complex yet thunderous arrangements. Threshold progressed inexorably through three decades of creative fervor, arguably reaching a new peak of power with the conceptual and musical feast of Legends Of The Shires in 2017. With the return of singer Glynn Morgan, the British lineup of Groom, West, drummer Johanne James and bassist Steve Anderson somehow pushed itself to new heights and was widely acclaimed by critics. The band’s latest (and 12th) studio album, Dividing Lines, was darker, heavier and even more adventurous than its predecessor, offering some of the most inventive and melodically powerful tracks they had ever recorded. The band is now embarking on a full reissue campaign of its previous albums, including new vinyl formats and bonus CD editions. It begins with the aforementioned early albums, Wounded Land (with Damian Wilson on vocals) and 1994’s Psychedelicatessen (where Glynn Morgan was recruited to front the band).
