Three Quarter Skies is the new band formed by Simon Scott from Slowdive. It was recorded by Simon and mixed with the help of the elusive Dave Pearce, a member of Flying Saucer Attack. The eight-track album includes the singles 'Crows' and 'Leave A Light On', a cover of Nick Drake, and all new versions of 'Holy Water' and 'Pieces Of Roslin', which originally appeared on a first EP last year, Universal Flames. While the latter was the result of a semi-improvised live recording, the new album is as focused as it is fierce. It is a cohesive work that emerged after a fertile creative period, following the death of Simon's mother earlier this year. "My creative well was already overflowing, and the loss of my mother pushed me over the edge," Simon explains. "I didn't want to write pretty melodies, or sentimental and sugary music about love, nor pretend that the world is happy and healthy. The songs of Three Quarter Skies are angry, loud, turbulent, stubborn, and irritable." "It's an album of deep despair, anxiety, frustration, and loss," Simon states. "It has been therapeutic to scream against the walls of feedback."
