Description

'Playing a unique instrument is a strength; it creates the exceptional, sparks public curiosity, and offers me the liberating independence I desire above all else. In this new project entitled OUTSIDER, I continue to give free rein to my imagination and build my own playground, where a tuba player is least expected. I continue my journey by paying homage to the paths that led me to Music. Thus, I nourish my desire to offer something new with this uncommon instrument, making me, a child of the classical world, passionate about pop, Latin rhythms, and raised on variety music: an Outsider.' Thomas LeleuBIO: At 24, he was named 'Instrumental Soloist Revelation of the Year' at the Victoires de la Musique 2012, the first tuba player in history to receive this distinction. Considered 'one of the greatest tuba players in the world' (France Bleu), compared to the 'Mozart' of his discipline, he is a 'global music star' (TMC, Yann Barthès). Present for 15 years in numerous media (TF1, France 2, France 3, C8, Europe 1, TSF Jazz, Radio Classique, France Inter...) and on stages worldwide, 'he quickly made a name for himself in the jazz scene. Often compared to Ibrahim Maalouf: the spirit is the same, the talent identical' (Ouest France). A graduate with a 1st Prize from the CNSM in Paris, and a laureate of International Competitions (Germany, South Korea, Luxembourg), Thomas was appointed Principal Tuba of the Orchestre de l'Opéra de Marseille at 19. In 2018, he was featured in ZDF/Arte's 'Stars of Tomorrow' in Berlin. In 2019, he received 3 nominations at Opus Klassik (Germany).
