Thistle, formed in a garage in Northampton, develops a sound oscillating between fragility and powerful noise. The minimalist trio — distorted amp, thunderous drums, and punchy bass — creates raw and cathartic music, driven by the voices of Cameron Godrey and Carey Judwyn Rushton. Influenced by Pavement, Polachek, Diiv, Ovlov, and the spirit of the 1990s, the band nonetheless finds a distinctly personal identity. After acclaimed singles and an EP, they received support from Steve Lamacq and a release on Venn Records. It's Nice to See You, Stranger compiles the self-titled EP and the band's early singles. The result offers their most accomplished artistic statement to date.
