Thibault is the highly anticipated new project from Melbourne-based Australian musician Nicole Thibault. Her debut album, 'Or Not Thibault', is full of harmonic invention, unexpected arrangements, and rich, shiver-inducing atmospheres. The record effortlessly transitions from humor to pure pathos, from absolute mystery to kinetic energy. Nicole's previous band, Minimum Chips, was a cornerstone of Chapter Music’s legendary 90s roster. For about ten years, Minimum Chips played Moog-driven motorik pop, making them a go-to support act for artists like Stereolab, Pavement, Bikini Kill, and Le Tigre. Nicole's vocals, trombone, keyboards, and compositions helped cultivate a mystical cult following around Min Chips that endures to this day. Nicole took a break in the late 2000s to start a family, but has recently returned to music with the support of a new generation of Melbourne youngsters. 'Or Not Thibault' features contributions from Zak Olsen (Orb, Traffik Island), Bec Liston (Parsnip), Lachlan Denton (The Ocean Party) as well as Minimum Chips accomplice Julian Patterson. The band Thibault currently consists of Zak, Bec and Stella Rennex (Parsnip). Producer James Cecil (The Goon Sax, Architecture In Helsinki) has beautifully captured the album's very modern pop atmosphere.
